怎樣判別傢俬中含有甲醛呢？選購傢俬時，可先靠近傢俬的抽屜及衣櫥等部位，用鼻子嗅一嗅，看看是否有刺激性氣味，是否強烈，如果感到有強烈的刺鼻味，並且伴有流眼淚、喉嚨發癢、咳嗽等不適現象，那麼，就不宜選購此類傢俬。其次，應讓傢俬廠提供原材料檢驗的合格證明，看看廠家採用的材料是否合格，從傢俬材料的源頭上把好關。另外，應仔細檢查人造板傢俬的邊部是否封邊，因為人造板邊部甲醛散發得最厲害，按傢俬標準規定，人造板傢俬的邊部必須進行封邊處理。

降低辦公室甲醛含量幾個方法：1)強力通風可以有效降低甲醛，但只有在室外溫濕度、空氣品質、及噪音可以接受的情況下才能執行，也不一定能讓甲醛降至安全量，而且一停止通風甲醛就會開始增加。2)將家俱放置到甲醛水平安全才使用，但可令一件家具的甲醛含量由降至安全最少都要兩年，而且也要找地方存放家具。3)小心去選取辦公室傢俬，避免選中含甲醛量高的家具。
